Who We Are
Laura and Harri — a Gavi native and an Estonian who lives between two countries. Two pairs of eyes who actually enjoy the hills above Gavi.
Piedmont Scout started because we kept meeting the same frustrated buyer. They’d fallen for a stone farmhouse in the Gavi hills, or an apartment near the vineyards, found entirely online — and they were about to spend a small fortune flying in to see it, with no idea whether the photos told the truth. Some flew in anyway, only to discover in ten minutes what a single honest video would have told them from home.
So we became their eyes on the ground.
Meet Harri & Laura
Laura is a native of Gavi. Italian is her mother tongue, her English and French are excellent and her Estonian is good — and she knows these hills, towns and local agents by heart. She can read a street: which café is its heart, which road carries the morning traffic, which “quiet village” is quiet only in the brochure. To her the territory isn’t research; it’s home.
Harri is Estonian — mother-tongue Estonian, excellent English, good Italian — and he travels constantly between Estonia and Italy. He knows exactly what it feels like to commit serious money to property in a country whose language and paperwork aren’t your own, and how much calmer it all feels when someone trustworthy is standing in the room for you.
Honestly, scouting is their hobby. They love discovering cities and hidden towns, mountain villages and new corners of the map, finding the good restaurants and cafés, eating far too much gelato, hiking and walking for hours. When they scout a property and its area for you, they’re doing the thing they’d be doing anyway — which is exactly why they do it so thoroughly.
Between them they work in Italian, English, French and Estonian — so nothing about your property gets lost in translation, and the surrounding area gets scouted in real detail.
What we believe — and why a Scout beats the agent
- The buyer deserves the truth, on camera. Listings flatter. We don’t.
- Neutral, with nothing to hide. The selling agent is motivated to close — so a property gets made to sound better than it is, and inconvenient facts can stay quiet. We earn the same flat fee whether you buy or walk away, so you get accurate, complete information exactly as you asked for it.
- No language barrier. Italian agents often speak little English and rarely French or Estonian; details get lost or never mentioned. Between us we work in Italian, English, French and Estonian — nothing is missed, nothing is misunderstood.
- We scout the area, in detail — even first. Agents are busy and only open the door of the property. We scout the surroundings exactly to your brief, and we can even scout a neighbourhood before any appointment is booked — because sometimes the area matters more than the house.
- Independence is the whole point. We earn a flat fee from you and nothing from anyone else. No agent pays us, no seller pays us, we take no commission and no affiliate payment, and no sale rewards us.
- Strictly within the law, always. We are area scouts and documentarians — not licensed Agenti d’affari in mediazione, and we will never search, shortlist, value, negotiate, or mediate. Read our legal statement →
